EFX-Sponsored NASCAR Driver Finishes 23rd in Daytona 500

Daytona, FL - EFX-sponsored driver Joey Gase, driving for Rick Ware Racing, placed 23rd at the completion of the Daytona 500 held at Daytona International Speedway on February 16 and 17, 2020.

The 62nd annual Daytona 500 marked the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season opener.  This was Gase’s second time racing in the Daytona 500.

Gase piloted the No. 51 entry, which was sponsored by EFX, Agri Supply, Eternal Fan and Page Construction.

The race started untraditionally, with President Donald Trump welcoming NASCAR fans with a lap around the track in his presidential limousine.  He also served as Grand Marshal, commanding, “Gentlemen, start your engines.” President Trump is the second American president to serve as Grand Marshall (CNN).

Unfortunately, the race concluded with driver Ryan Newman crashing in the final lap; he was evacuated to Halifax Medical Center by NASCAR’s safety/medical crew.  Newman has since been released from the hospital.

Gase took to Facebook to express his gratitude after the race:

Have to say I never thought I would be given the command by POTUS & follow him around the track for a few laps. HUGE thanks to all our sponsors that made this possible & everyone at Rick Ware Racing for giving me the opportunity! And all of my friends and family that have supported me my whole life. Looking forward to the rest of the year. Most Importantly my thoughts & prayers go to Ryan Newman and his family.
